This is a moderately difficult hike mostly thanks to the start of the trail, which is steep and has sections with loose gravel. However, the payoffs are well worth the challenge. This 4.5 km/2.8 mi trail ultimately brings you to the Ptarmigan Cirque, an alpine meadow with 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, the trail passes numerous waterfalls and boulders covered in colourful lichen. You’ll find the trailhead for this memorable hike at the Highwood Meadows Day Use Area.
